Vandenberg Post 125 is proud to announce that Cooper Settje has been selected by the American Legion Post to attend California Boys and Girls State—a prestigious, week-long leadership and civic engagement program sponsored by The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Held each summer at Sacramento State University, Boys and Girls State is an immersive educational experience where top high school juniors come together to form a simulated government from the ground up. Participants campaign for elected office, draft legislation, debate policies, and learn how local and state government functions. Students represent cities and political parties, gaining firsthand insight into leadership, public service, and democracy in action. It’s not just a government camp—it’s a life-shaping experience designed to empower the next generation of civic-minded leaders.
